National Day is celebrated on October 10, and this year, it leads into a long weekend. People will be able to enjoy special merchandise and discounts over the long break.
Umbrellas featuring Taiwan’s flag are on sale in the run-up to National Day on October 10. There are also ponchos in the national flag colors, as well as a pink baseball cap with the national flag design embroidered on it. This merchandise is likely to appeal to people attending the National Day celebrations in Taipei, which take place in front of the Presidential Office building.
Meanwhile, amusement parks are trying to cash in on the four-day holiday that follows National Day this year. Some are offering half price entrance fees, while others are giving discounted entrance to customers whose national ID card number includes the numbers one or zero, a nod to National Day’s other name, “Double Tenth Day”.
